One of my favourite areas for photography is the northern area of Golden Bay in the Nelson Province, and in particular Wharariki Beach to Farewell Spit.  My ideal time time to visit is before the tourist season starts which is usually in September simply because there are less footprints in the sand and less bodies to exclude from the photographs.  I am not the only photographer to regularly visit this area as the wind and water make for great photos.
