The opportunity was taken to spend a week touring the West Coast at a time when planning for the weather was not an option. On previous tours to the coast the weather had been taken into account when planning a trip. As it happened, a Southerly front was moving up the Island and arrived in the Evening when reaching Hokitika. The weather was fine thereafter.
